Let’s talk about this game and review it to know if this game is really worth your money.Story:Masaya Okonogi is a young man who has financial troubles because of his father’s actions, forcing him to take different jobs. However, his father left him behind, and also gave Masaya his debt to the loan sharks, forcing Masaya to run away from their house. In the streets, however, he saved a girl named Rise Rousenin twice that night. Because of that fateful night, Masaya was enrolled at the school Rise is attending; Vincennes Academy, an all-girls school. He was chosen by Rise as a male sample to help her promote gender integration. Gameplay:Princess Evangile is a visual novel game, so it consists of clicking with the mouse to scroll the text. You will play as Masaya Okonogi, the main character of this game and your main objective is to promote gender integration. Although the way you can do this is by selecting certain choices. In some part of the game, some choices will pop-up and will let you decide which path you’d like to take. This game, however, has bland and few choices that the player can choose to affect the game. Bland because the choices are very simple that it literally says which choice determines the route’s heroine. After choosing the path you wanted, well, there are no other options. Enjoy reading through the chapters! Hey, at least the story’s interesting. Graphic:The game has a nice HUD interface, with a theme that suites the Filles De La Vincennes ("Maidens of Vincennes") elegance and innocence. The shortcuts are nicely arranged above the textbox, and the settings menu has a nice design to it, making it look like a monarch’s settings for his throne’s adjustable backrest. The art style for the characters is like the style from anime and their facial expressions are well drawn and very excellent. Character models were not only fixated into one pose, but they also made two for most of the cast. The background used in the game is very excellent. The artwork is really great, as if you’re looking into a painting in an art gallery. The backgrounds are also drawn in day and night form, as well as certain events such as school festival and Christmas. The CGs used in this game are very amazing! There are well drawn CGs that shows the tear jerking scene, wacky and funny scenes, and many more. The way the art is drawn is really awesome, as it shows what is going on in that event and how cute/beautiful the characters are. Music:The music of the game fits the theme and atmosphere of the game. The character’s theme song greatly describes their personalities and characteristics, like Ayaka’s jolly and carefree attitude and Ritsuko’s refined and stoic personality. The music greatly expresses the atmosphere of the situation occurring, like a dumbfounded moment, confessing their true feelings, etc. Most of the music has elegance in it, which completely suits the setting of the story. Classical music composed by Mozart, Bach and Strauss were remixed for this game, and I actually find it relaxing. But the most exciting music in this game is “Insanity”. This will play most of the time whenever Konomi appears. You’ll find it entertaining.Presentation:The game has four routes, with one of the four main heroines becoming the love interest of Masaya. The player can choose what route to take depending on which choices have been selected. The heroines are Rise Rousenin, the girl with a strong will who wanted the school to reform; Ritsuko Kitamikado, the refined girl who always stick to rules and opposes the gender integration; Ayaka Kitamikado, who is known as the “other Kitamikado” due to her making pranks on others and is always laid back; and Chiho Sagisawa, the sporty childhood friend that is also a tsundere. The characters introduced are like living in a separate dimension: a school disconnected from the common world and is very innocent of what’s the norm to the public. They are so distant that majority of the students has no contact with the male gender except with their fathers. This setting sets the characters’ mind set and personality for the rest of the game to give the player the following thoughts: “How will I be able to turn this academy into an all-gender school?” Well, maybe that curiosity will be enough for the player to keep on playing.Overall:Princess Evangile is a great visual novel, with comedic scenes, dramatic and tear jerking scenes, and romantic stories. Sure, the player’s choices are very minimal compared to other visual novel, but it focused itself in the story. It’s like playing a kinetic novel but you have an option to choose which heroine you’d like to end up with. Also, there are only four heroines available, which is kind of disappointing since there are some interesting female characters such as Ruriko and Konomi. Despite that, Princess Evangile delivers a great moe story and interesting characters. I can recommend this game to gamers who wanted to relax and play something refreshing with a good story.. The first Visual Novel that i have finished it completely. Though bought it in 2015, at the time I thought I had wasted my money just for some eye-washing scenes (included R18 patch), but when I played it seriously in 2018, from the start, it really hooked me up.The story was so damm moving, some people said it was bland because the protagonist was a lucky guy (hit the lottery, entered the school for girl,...) but if you understood his circumstances in the past comprehendingly, I would say it wasn't too much of a bland story at all.It was easy to choose which route you want to play, which is a good point for a beginner who wants to start playing VN. Nevertheless, each route had its own interesting story, and I found it a well-written story. ( Honestly, I cried every time when I got to the end of each route because it was so romantic and moving that I couldn't hold my tears. And since they were 2D, it made me feel more the sadness :((( ) Even with the R18 patch patched, I still cannot f*p because of the PURITY of their love, since I really love vanilla. It's not like I'm hentai or anything b-baka And guess what, now i knew French too. BONJOUR MONDE :vvBtw, Soleil D'Ecole is the best ... !100/10 (It was 100 really, not a wrong typing).Merci beaucoup ... !. Alright, so before we begin, I would like to say that this IS NOT A BAD GAME.It's actually a pretty good game, and I thoroughly enjoyed a few scenes in it.With that being said, here are many flaws. The main character (MC) has a wonderful backstory and first couple of chapters. However, much potential was squandered for character development. There could have been a much more exciting plot considering how strong the game started. 6.5/10Voice acting:No complaints. 9/10The soundtrack:It's not bad, but it's quite simplistic. The best song (shown after chapter 0) is rarely used and it's a real shame. Over time, the music gets really repetitive and even annoying. The music tells you what to feel, instead of guiding you to those feelings and enhancing the experience. Sometimes the music starts too early (like it'll start right after a scene change) and will ruin the scene for you by telling you what kind of scene happens next. Overall, it's boring, bland, and not immersive. 4/10Plot: pretty predictible for the most part. There are some twists in there, but I mean, if you're familiar with this kind of literature, you basically know how this VN will generally play out by the first few chapters. The tropes are very strong in this VN's general arc.Rise and Chiho get sidelined a bit into comedic relief by being predominantly used as being part of a love triangle. I feel this really takes away from their potential as characters.Motifs: This game takes place at a Christian school and thus has very strong Christian, specifically Catholic themes. Well, let's just say that that was the attempt at least. How did the writer do his research into Christianity? By watching Cartoon Network? The way that this novel tries to integrate Christian motifs is abysmal. Much of it is a blatant misrepresentation, and anyone familiar with Christian theology will see this very quickly. It's a shame that the writer(s) couldn't have put in more effort researching something that's so integral to the core of this game. 2/10Pacing: It's pretty slow; there is a good bit of filler. The endings (after the plot's climax) weren't very long, much to my dismay. Also, you need to choose the same girl 5 times in order to get their routes and not a bad end. Which tbh makes for a bit of unnecessary skipping on replays. 5.5/10So did I enjoy this game? In general, yes.Would I recommend it? Probably not. It takes a good bit of time to finish the routes, and there are much better things to do with your time. I'd recommend playing Doki Doki Literature Club and "If my Heart Had Wings" instead. Maybe once you're done reading all the good VNs out there, you can come back to this one. Or don't. Because it'll seem bland in comparison.Final Verdict: 5/10 for experienced VN readers. 6/10 for newbies. Generally wouldn't recommend. Not because it's a bad VN per se, but because it takes a long time to read, and in the time it takes you to 100% this VN, you could have been reading much better VNs or doing other things.. Princess Evangile is honestly one of the strongest VN's out there. Whilst it doesn't do anything particularly new, or revolutionary, it does a fantastic job on what it does do. The game itself is split into 26 Chapters, which makes one full playthrough take around 40 hours give or take. I have finished one route in the original, and am in the process of doing another in the Sequel (w/ Happiness). Now, as someone already has mentioned, if this game appeals to you, pick up the 18+ edition from Manga Gamer directly. I feel that the game itself benefits a lot more from it. w/ Happiness includes the common route for this game, but it doesn't include the actual routes for any of the four heroines in this game. If you are looking to play this, I highly recommend picking both the original and the sequel, and then playing through w/ Happiness's common route. It means you can skip a lot of the game to get directly to the route you want, as with Happiness includes 9 routes instead of this versions 4.Princess Evangile has Rise, Chiho, Ritsuko, and Ayaka.Princess Evangile w/ Happiness has a follow up route for those 4 heroines, and new routes for Marika, Mitsuki, Tamie, Ruriko, and Konomi.Overall, I'd say this VN is definitely the strongest bang for your buck out there, as I can honestly see it taking 300 hours for all of the playthroughs. My breakdown:PROS:+ Art. Moonstone's game's all have beautiful art. Everything here is of suberb quality, from the CG's, to the sprites and backgrounds. Not once did I think it was poorly made.+ Characters. Every character is likeable in their own way, and almost all of them have a sprite and voice acting to go with it.+ Long. Once again, this thing is really long. I'm not that fast of a reader, and I get distracted a lot, but it is definitely lengthy. Took me well over 50 hours to do Rise's route. For anyone else, this could be anywhere between 35 to 45. Excellent value for money.+ Voice acting. Full Japanese Voice Acting. Whilst I don't speak the language, I can definitely tell they each did a great job at playing their character.+ Great dramatic story moments. Whilst some moments were cliche (see the cons), there was some amazingly well done scenes, in particular at the pinnacle of some of the character arcs (Marika in particular). Helped make the experience memorable.CONS:- Protagonist. The protagonist is easily my least favourite part of this game. The guy is in high school, took a year off to work, and somehow has more life experience than my entire family combined. This guy has managed to travel halfway across the world on a fishing trip, work with computers in an office, manage to do a jobs in replenishment, all whilst continuously moving around with his father. At the start, he was fine, but over time it really♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥me off that he's just a jack of all trades with no weaknesses. On top of that, he's a pretty blatant self-insert (not neccessarily a bad thing), that the writers try to pass off as an interesting character. If you play the game, you'll see what I mean. It hurts the experience (which is why the character rating isn't a 10), but it definitely isn't worth dropping the game over.- Choices. This game has what my friends and I have coined "If My Heart Had Wings Syndrome". 50 hours of gameplay, and maybe 7 choices in total. 3 don't even matter, and don't do much at all.- Locked in too quickly. The first decision that makes you locked into your route is done well before you learn the story behind the girls. I'm pretty sure Ritsuko is in like, four scenes max, before the first choice. And Chiho barely has any presence until after that first choice. It was frustrating as I'm fairly certain I would have enjoyed the game much more (and I would've changed routes) if I was given more time to decide.- Cliche. The plot itself is very cliche. Whilst it is done well, it is very blatant what will happen for most of the game.- Generic soundtrack. Weak and inoffensive. I muted it after the first hour for my own music (turning it back on a few times during the story to see if it was any better (it wasn't)). Would have benefitted a lot more with better music.-Scores-Story: 7Characters: 9Art: 9Music: 5Enjoyment: 8Overall: 8/10tl;dr, one of the best VN's out there, but pick up the 18+ version from Manga Gamer directly._____Frost | Steam ProfileFollow our Curator PageJoin our Curator Discord[discord.gg]. do her.I mean, Do It in her.Oops.I mean Do it for her! (yeah... i got it that time)A great game thus far. Few Grammar errors but it provides entertainment as advertised. My only complaint is that I did not realize for $10 more I could see boobies and get a steam key for the cards as well.Edit (finish Ritsuko Route): Even without the adult version this is very good. Takes ~45 hours from start to finish running on auto. I went with the Ritsuko route and it was very good and well worth the money. *must avoid manly tears over Ritsuko's love*. My only complaint is that the ending is very dry and doesnt give a full sense of completeness... It just kind of ends quickly after the story climax.10/10 would buy again just for cards and then realize that I dumb.. The story's structure is quite bland and the only meaningful choices are (literally) "pick a girl". Go play Noble Works instead.Chiho's VA is good though.. I didn't even know that I had this game in my library.. This is a long and very good Visual Novel! It is really a long read, but somehow the story manage to make it feel the opposite, it is so good!I have read it for 3 days about 30 hours before I even get to start one of the four routes. The common base story is more of a Kinetic Novel since you only get a couple times to pick a choice, but they mostly end up meaning nothing. The romance is really taking its time to build up in the main character, since there are a lot of times between the choices that will lead to whos route you will start. In my opinion this made the story feel more personal and 'realistic' in a certain way. The music is generic Visual Novel soundtrackThe kissing and lewd sounds were not that really good in my opinion, I've heard better.Maybe the fact that this story is pretty long will scare a few people from buying this game, but I would say, that don't be scared! If you like Visual Novels you will love this, the all age version or the +18 version it doesn't matter. The story is so well written and the voice acting makes it even better. So in the end, Ithink this is a most have to any fans of Visual or Kinetic Novels!. I LOVED THIS NOVEL!!! the different girls stories all are wonderful I could not help but cry at the end of each of them (My personal favorite is Ritsuko) The paths and hardship indured, The CG's were wonderful, voice acting was phenomenal, I noticed a decent amount of typo's, but I can't help but forgive. This was a wonderful read, and I am already getting ready to go through again. I can't help but go over board here, The Dev's are very good at their jobs, It almost felt like I was watching an anime then reading a Visual novel. I give Princess Evangile 2 thumbs up, my heat in the air and a 20 out of 10Hmmmm, and i can't wait for W Happiness, ohhhhhhh hmmmmm as soon as i see its out i am definitely scooping it right upSalutations :)I recommend for everyone
